German Cross in Gold by Deschler, Tim Calvert Collection-This is the scarce “heavy four rivet” example by Deschler. We purchased it as part of the Tim Calvert collection. It exhibits all of the characteristics of a textbook piece by this maker. The overall look is excellent, with a beautiful, even tone. The starburst is tombak and retains a majority of the grey finish, with the missing finish revealing the base metal. The red stripe is virtually fully intact. The gold wreath, same. The silver back plate retains 50% of the finish. The black enamel swastika is in fine condition, with just a few minor scratches as would be expected. The reverse has toned beautifully, just as seen on the obverse. The reverse is where you can see the four rivets and the pin which is stamped with the number “1”. The pin is the correct style as is the squared wire catch. The case is for DISPLAY ONLY as it is a POST WAR example and included for FREE! A great piece!
