German Imperial Officers Artillery Sword-This early artillery sword is a beauty. It has a gorgeous, highly embossed brass hilt, crossguard and lion head pommel. The P-guard is superbly decorated as well. The details are really exquisite. The handle is made of sharkskin and has twisted wire grip wrap. Just below the crossguard is an emblem with “SL” monogram. The black painted scabbard retains almost all of its original paint, there are a few scuffs. Overall, this is near excellent. The scabbard fittings are in good condition as well and retain the majority of their black paint. The blade is also worth looking at. It is triple engraved, with etchings on both sides as well as the backstrap. The blade is covered in a protective cosmoline, that was applied by a previous collector. We have not attempted to remove this. This may give the blade a coppery color but be aware that this is just because of the substance. You can clean up if you choose to do so. This blade measures 32 inches (81.28cm) alone. With the scabbard, this measures 39 inches (99.06cm) in length. This is a gorgeous sword that would look great on anyone’s wall. This is near excellent, especially for its’ age.
