German Model 33 SS Dagger by Robert Klaas-This an interesting transitional model retaining virtually all of the characteristics associated with an early production dagger. These include solid nickel cross guards, and scabbard fittings, along with an anodized scabbard. The black ebony handle has a nice fit but there appears to be a repair up towards the runic button, but no wood is missing. There is a slight chip out of the reverse bottom area of the cross guard. Because this is a transitional piece, it does not have a group mark on the reverse of the lower cross guard. The anodizing on the scabbard is 50% in place, but it appears to have more than that, so I am being conservative. There is a slight dent on the boot of the lower scabbard fitting. The blade is a gem with full polish and obvious factory cross graining. It has a deep motto, which translates to “My Honor is Loyalty”. The reverse of the blade has the double RZM maker’s contract numbers, which are M7/37 and RZM 1051/38SS. Interesting overall example with rating a strong very good!
