German WWI Iron Cross 1914 1st Class in Original Case-This is a beautiful example of a 1st class 1914 Iron Cross. The toning on the frame and reverse of this cross is very dark, but boy, does it give this a terrific look. The black finish to the iron core is only lightly faded and with the dark toning on the silver it certainly has a very regal look. The pin and catch assembly function perfectly. Stamped on the pin on the reverse we see “G” for the well-known house of J. Godet & Sohn. It is packaged in its original presentation case. The black leatherette case displays a silver outline of an Iron Cross on the lid. The white silk upper lid is intact and undamaged. The bottom of the case is an unusual light blue velvet. The case is in very good condition and closes correctly; the snap closure works properly. This was most likely a private purchase example. A choice offering that won’t last long.
