German WWI Iron Cross 1st Class-This is a beautiful vaulted example of a 1914 1st class Iron cross. The original black finish on the iron core remains fully intact with some slight fading. The silver frame is very nicely toned and is still a nice dark silver tone that complements this badge nicely. This medal is nicely vaulted! The pin setup functions perfectly. This would have been a private purchase back in the day. A good example overall!
History: The German "Iron Cross of 1914" was a military decoration awarded to soldiers during World War I, originally established by King Frederick William III of Prussia in 1813 as a recognition for bravery in battle.
