These were issued in far fewer numbers than the 2nd Class\/Grade.\u003cspan style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eThis is made of a solid die struck brass base that is gold washed. The gold wash remains in place. The obverse features a large round ended Tatzenkreuz (cross pattée alisée) with a centrally placed mobile swastika (hook cross), which is surrounded by FÜR VERDIENSTE IM LUFTSCHUTZ (For Merit in Air Defense). The reverse is marked 1938 at the ends of the cross.
