German WWII Army Officer’s Sword by Anton Wingen-This is a beautiful early lion’s head example measuring approx. 36 ½” long. The early brass hilt fittings are outstanding including a political style eagle on the languet. Grip with triple wire shows a slight amount of verdigris but is otherwise excellent. The scabbard paint is original and a solid 90% intact. The reverse of the languet is deeply engraved with the officer’s initials which are WB. There is light spotting on the blade so I will call that part of the blade very good. Desirable offering.
