German WWII Army Officer’s Sword by Gottlieb Weyersberg-Beautiful example measuring approx. 37” in length. This is a scarcely encountered maker. It is a lion head design with the red glass eyes, one of which is missing. The details on the gilted hilt are excellent with better than 90% of the plating intact. Black wire celluloid handle with grip wrapping is excellent. The black enamel paint on the scabbard rates a solid 90%. The reverse of the languet is beautifully engraved with the officer’s initials. The scabbard has a few nicks above the ring area which should be noticeable in the photos. The maker marked blade is full excellent. Very nice example!
