German WWII DRK Sisterhood Uniform Badge or Active Membership Badge-This is similar to the other DRK sisterhood badges, except this is oval in shape. It measures approx. 43mm wide and approx. 28mm tall. It has a black enamel border with the gold script “Deutsches Rotes Kreuz Schwesternschaft”, (German Red Cross Sisterhood). The center displays the large black DRK eagle holding the Red Cross on a white field. The enamel is good only on this piece.  There is some damage to the right of the red cross, and some lifting to the gold script. The enamel does show moderate wear and scuffing. The reverse is maker marked for C.T.D and shows the membership number of 2786. The horizontal pin is missing as is the hinge, though remnants of the catch is still in place. This would be a good display piece only.  After doing some research we are unable to identify what the different colors mean. The DRK Sisterhood active service brooches have been observed with blue, red, green and black outer borders with the significance of the various colors being unverified. Speculatively the outer border color may indicate rank/position, expertise (dental, surgical, etc) or even a level of governmental responsibility. Overall, a very sound display example!
