This guy was a beast and fought everywhere. This medal bar starts with a war merit cross with swords. The tone and details are excellent. The second medal is the infamous frozen meat medal, or the Russian front. The silver is missing on the helmet and on the rim, but this medal has a dark gray color and great details. The third medal is an Army 4 year faithful service award, with the army eagle cypher. The fourth medal is the elusive memel occupation award. This is a scarce medal. Germany annexed the Klaipėda Region (Memel Territory) from Lithuania on 22 March 1939 after an oral ultimatum. On 23 March an occupation of the city and district was carried out by German Army troops. To commemorate the occupation the “Memel Medal” was authorized on 1 May 1939. It was awarded until 31 December 1940. The award was presented to all military, political and civil personnel who had distinguished themselves in actions related to the annexation of the district to Germany. In all 31,322 medals were awarded. The final and fifth medal is a beautiful west wall medal. This has a great finish, and terrific details. The reverse is backed with a gray wool that show slight discoloration but is in very good condition. The long horizontal pin is in place and functions as it should. This is a very cool medal bar with an interesting variety!
