German WWII Helmet Carrying Strap-This textured brown leather strap circles the helmet and clips underneath the side skirts with three aluminum metal hooks. A small leather loop secures a metal clip to the back of the strap. This clip was used to hang the helmet from the soldier's backpack or belt to alleviate the stress on the chinstrap, which was commonly used during WW2 and would typically break. According to unconfirmed internet research this type of carrying system was designed by Josef Welte in 1937. In excellent condition, all fittings are hardware is in place, including the leather slider. The helmet is not authentic, so we are throwing this helmet in for free as it makes for a nice display piece for the carrying strap.
