German WWI Iron Cross 1st Class 1914-This is a beautiful example of a slightly vaulted Iron Cross. It is in choice condition, which is amazing considering its age. The award features the W at the center, which was added in the late 1800s for Wilhelm I and was kept for the 1914 issue under Wilhelm II. Below this is the date 1914 with the crown at the top of the medal. The black finish on the iron core is 100% in place. The silver frame has a great tone to it, as does the silver on the reverse. There is a pinback on this example. The pin setup functions perfectly. It is nicely marked on the reverse, under the pin near the catch, with KO for the maker Königliches Münzamt Orden in Berlin. Beautiful example from World War 1.
