German WWII Luftwaffe Flak Helmet for Crews of HE-111 Aircraft-This is the rare and desirable SSK 90 specially designed prototype helmet made for crews of this bomber for their special missions during the battle for Britain. It is made of a high-quality brown leather under which are thin steel plates. These were designed to protect the crews from the flak artillery being fired at them. The top has a special thick leather comb to absorb the shock of being tossed around during these attacks. The interior liner is made of a brown cloth material and it has the complete rectangular cloth maker’s tag from the company of SIEMANS. It is a huge size 60 and comes complete with a full set of straps. Overall this is a full excellent example.
