German WWII M42 Canteen by HRE 43-Red steel body, with a brown gaberdine felt covering that is in excellent condition, with no moth tracking or holes. Four press studs on the side, with most of the finish missing from use. One of the studs is damaged and has lost its snap mechanism. Straps are a pebbled leatherette, and are intact and in good condition. A steel drinking cup that is finished in army green, with an inside that is painted in a dark red to match the steel body of the canteen. The cup is marked HRE 43 for Heinrich Ritter, Esslingen. The green finish on this cup is 100% intact, and in super condition. A steel snap clip at the top, near the cup retains approx. 85% of its gray finish. Overall, a very choice example!
