German WWII Model 33 SS Enlisted Man’s Dagger-This is an early example with nickel silver fittings throughout. The reverse of the lower cross guard is stamped with the Roman numeral III. It also has the serial number of this SS man. The number reads 126531. We have done a preliminary inquiry and were not able to identify the owner. However, subsequent new research may change that. The black ebony wooden grip is a perfect fit. The only wear is to the reverse of the handle and that was definitely caused by the vertical hanger which has always been with this piece. The nickel silver grip eagle along with the SS runic button are in excellent condition. Although this is an early dagger, the scabbard is painted and I am calling it a re-paint; but, if that’s the case, it was done a very long time ago. This dagger was produced by the firm of Robert Klaas. The blade with the SS motto “My Honor Is Loyalty” is in near excellent condition with the usual in and out runner marks. The maker’s logo which is the kissing cranes is deeply etched into the reverse of the blade. The leather SS vertical hanger is well marked on the reverse with the maker’s contract number and year of production which is listed as ’34. It is in overall near excellent condition and as I previously indicated, it has been with this dagger forever. Very desirable listing!
