German WWII RAD Hewer by Eickhorn-Very early example with the double oval squirrel logo indicating pre 1935. This is an outstanding example; whose early nickel silver fittings have a nice-looking patina. This is a working tool, so it does have a few minor indentations on the lower scabbard fitting, but otherwise, the entire piece remains undamaged. The stag handles are in perfect shape. The ferrule above the obverse cross guard is beautifully engraved with the initials of the owner, these appear to read “JSC”. The original enameled paint on the scabbard is a full 95% in place. The blade rates excellent with the slightest indication of some sharpening on the cutting edge. The RAD motto “Work Enobles” is deeply etched into the obverse of the blade. The reverse has the Eickhorn logo and RAD nomenclature. Outstanding example!
