German WWII SS Himmler Dagger by Eickhorn-This textbook example of a Himmler Honor dagger is a gem from top to bottom. This is definitely a “WOW” piece. The fittings are nickel silver plated. The bottom crossguard has the number 6 deeply etched into the underside which is the number assigned to the craftsman who originally assembled this dagger. The black ebony wooden grip is excellent. It shows hardly any wear and is free of chips or any damage whatsoever. The SS runic button retains all of its enamel and finish it is excellent. So is the nickel silver eagle. Both are a tight fit to the handle. The scabbard is also a thing of beauty. It has fine anodizing, that gives this a good look. There is a slight scuff on the reverse, but this is not a distraction at all. The nickel fittings are near excellent and I only say that since there are two small dent in the scabbard ball at the tip. The blade is in excellent overall condition with the usual in and out marks, but virtually no damage otherwise. The motto which translates to “My Honor Is Loyalty” is deeply etched into the blade. The Himmler dedication is also very clear. Just above the Himmler dedication is the correct early Eickhorn squirrel logo. This is an unquestionable textbook example! It is complete with a short black leather hanger with “D” ring loop. The hanger has the nickel silver plated fittings which is usually found on an RZM vintage dagger as the clip is marked M5/71 for Overhoff & Cie of Lüdenscheid. This is a rare beauty for sure and is missing from most collections!
