German WWII TENO Subordinate Hewer by Eickhorn- Outstanding example. Textbook in every way. This is of very early manufacture with matching numbers on the throat of the scabbard and also on the cross guard. This bears the serial number “0565.” This is a desirable feature, along with the fact that this is an overall very fine example. The nickel silver plated hilt has slight remnants of the burnishing in the cog wheel and a trace of the burnishing on the cross guard. The white celluloid grip plates are perfect. The back strap of the pommel area has several small nicks, as this was obviously used by the TENO member as a hammer at one time. The plated fittings on the scabbard are excellent. The original black enamel paint is a solid 95%. There is a slight, and I mean very slight, indentation on the back of the scabbard. The blade has the stylized TENO insignia along with the 1935/41 Eickhorn squirrel. This example is complete with its original black leather frog which is unique to this style of dagger. It also retains the elusive retaining leather strap. Very sound example.
