German WWII War Merit Medal with Original Envelope-This is an unissued example of the War merit medal with its original envelope and tissue as awarded. There is a portion of original ribbon included as well. The ribbon has great tone and details. This was awarded to recognize service by civilians, both German and non-German in connection with the war effort. It was mostly awarded to people working in war factories. It is in bronze with a design of the War Merit Cross on the obverse and the inscription “Für Kreigs Verdienst 1939”, “For War Merit 1939”, on the reverse. It appears that someone named “Harold” has written his name on the back of the envelope. So, if your name is Harold, this medal is for you! This is an excellent example.
