NAZI Penal Official’s Buckle-This is an early Type 1 version of early brass, round stamped construction. Both keepers are present on this example. This had a gold finish at one point, but the finish is nearly all missing on this one. You can see some remnants of this gilding on the highlights of the swastika on the eagle’s chest and some of the wreath that surrounds the eagle. The design of this buckle was very similar to the justice leader’s type one buckle, except this was gold. It would have been worn on a black or brown leather belt, depending on the uniform requirements. This buckle has beautiful toning and is very clean, allowing the details to really pop. A very handsome example.
