Personalized German Imperial Navy Officer’s Sword by WKC -This 37” in total length and is a fine offering. The D-guard hilt has a high level of gilting, with a lion’s head containing the green and red eyes. This of course is for port and starboard symbolism. This has a folding guard on one side, with a stylized imperial anchor, and a locking guard on the other side with the officer’s name which is R. Memde. The white celluloid grip contains the brass wire wrap which is in perfect condition. The black leather scabbard with its brass engraved fittings is held in place with staples which are all present. Incredibly this 100-year-old leather is in very good condition and must have enjoyed a good storage life. The nickel-plated blade is the plain version, but it is in choice excellent condition. The WKC logo is where it should be on the obverse of the blade and is deeply stamped into the blade. The red felt buffer is still partially in place under the cross guard. The blade goes into the scabbard but needs a little help to completely fit under the cross guard. This does not detract from the display ability of this piece. Overall excellent example!
