Scarce Army Assault Gunner Wrapper in HBT-This item is produced green herringbone twill (HBT) as seen on other Army and Luftwaffe light weight tunics in the model 1943 pattern. But to see an assault gun wrapper produced in this material is very rare indeed! It is very clean, with very minor visible wear. There are a few very small "pulls", and I mean very small, almost not worth a mention to be honest. It is set up like a "standard" black wool wrap with a few key differences...the most obvious being the double row of zinc buttons, allowing for some adjustment in the fit when worn closed. The other obvious difference is the vented (like a smock) armpits. As on the black wool wrap, there is a large breast pocket on the left side, this one has a scalloped flap. There are slots at the waist for a belt. IMPORTANT NOTE! All of the insignia is collector applied! The breast eagle is original but as mentioned reapplied. The collar tabs are real but the skulls are questionable. There are loops for three badges on the left side, these are also COLLECTOR DONE. The interior is unlined. There is a RBNr stamped in white ink onto the interior. Also seen stamped, this time in gold ink are the sizes and the year of production, '43. It is a size medium. I have no doubt that this will fit a mannequin with no problem, especially based on the available adjustment. A very desirable item in near excellent condition!
