Scarce, WWII German Luftwaffe Officer Model 1943 Field Cap for Assaul- They don’t come any rarer than this! It is produced in field grey wool which shows moderate wear and discoloration from use as well as some minor tracking. The insignia is actually a Luftwaffe Officer breast eagle. It is produced in silver bullion with bright silver highlights over blue/grey wool. There is moderate wear to the eagle. This exact insignia is not original to the cap, but the previous owner saw the outline of the eagle and carefully replaced it. It is just like the original type affixed to the cap. The top panel is piped in silver aluminum mesh, which displays as does the rest of the exterior. The side skirts and are affixed together via a pair of small pebbled silver finished buttons on the front panel. The interior is fully lined in off-white cloth with a rough texture (like cheese cloth). There is lots of discoloration and wear from use as well as a few small holes. The size, 58, is stamped onto the lining. There is a partial off-white leather sweatband that is excellent with minor discoloration only. This super-scarce and desirable cap is missing from most collections!
