Spectacular Third Reich RAD General Ensemble-An incredible offering that includes the tunic, breeches, field cap and brocade belt and buckle for an RAD general. The specific rank is generalarbeitsführer, which is equivalent to a Heer major general or a US major general. Starting with the tailor made, private purchase jacket, which is produced in incredibly soft brown wool. It is very clean, showing a few very faint spots that are worn. Please see photos. The condition is overall excellent! There is a four-button closure and all buttons are gilt finished pebbled metal. There are four pockets with straight flaps. The breast pockets are pleated while the hip pockets are internal. There are French cuffs. The collar itself is soft brown badge cloth. There is very minor wear in a few spots. The hand applied collar tabs are of a very good quality i.e. thick and beautifully made. They are black velvet with celleon wheat sprig. The shoulders are lightly padded. The sew in shoulder boards are black badge cloth with gold celleon and a silver/black stripe braid. The rank as mentioned earlier is that of a generalarbeitsführer. The left pocket has loops for four badges. Included is a WWI black wound badge, a WWI EKI and a painted NSDAP party badge. There are loops above the pocket for a long ribbon bar. The left sleeve has a beautiful, gold flat wire RAD shield. This is over soft black badge cloth. There is also a high-quality wool party armband. This is neatly hand applied and super clean. There is a ribbed wool disc with multi piece black ribbed cloth swastika. The interior is fully lined in brown rayon that is in fine condition. There is a single pocket on the left side and a waist belt. There is a slot for an edged weapon but this jacket never had a strap. The tailor label was removed from the neck area, you can clearly see the “ghost”. It is a medium size. Onto the breeches, which are produced in the same soft brown wool as the jacket. There are twin black stripes down the length of each leg. There are black cloth ties at the lower legs. There are slash type hip pockets, a watch fob pocket and a single rear pocket with a button. There is a four button fly with a metal hook and loop fastener. All of the buttons for the suspenders are present. The pocket bags are brown cloth and the reinforcements inside the breeches are white cloth. The waist is a size 32 and the legs are 40” long. Next up, the “Robin Hood” field cap. This is a fantastic example, private purchase of course, produced in soft brown wool that is excellent. There are two or three tiny moth nips, otherwise this is as new. The scallops are piped in gold mesh piping. There is also gold mesh piping around the inner perimeter of the bill. The insignia is outstanding. It is all hand sewn gold bullion and flat wire with red shovel outline and black swastika over a brown badge cloth base. Wow! Each side has a pair of reddish-brown enameled ventilation grommets. The interior is fully lined with what appears to be a waterproof gold ribbed rayon. The sweatband is reddish-brown leather and excellent. The size is stamped underneath, 56. Finally, the brocade belt which is a scarcely found item. It includes a gold aluminum general’s buckle and keeper to go along with the gold fixed keeper and brocade slide. There is a bit of wear in one spot on the brocade. The reverse of the belt is lined in beautiful olive brown badge cloth that is very clean. There are a few moth nips. The leather tongue is present. The overall length of the belt and buckle set is 41”. An amazing opportunity, a very special grouping!
