This was the height of popularity of these pieces of trench art. This has the name MED CRUISE USMC 1960-1961 on the small silver plaque near the handle. The gold plaque beneath that lists the marines name, P.F.C.Ackerman A. The stick itself measures approx. 22 inches (55.88cm) long. This is in very good condition. These swagger sticks were very popular, with their official use peaked around 1960. General David M. Shoup, who became Commandant in 1960, famously discouraged them, calling them an "optional item of interference". This policy effectively ended their status as a standard uniform accessory, though they remained common as cruise mementos.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1141/9332/files/1960ss_USMC_Swagger_Stick_Mediteranian_Cruise_26629.jpg?v=1775047615
