The olive green wool of the body is nicely shaped and shows no moth damage at all. There are two green enameled grommeted vent holes on either side of the cap. The brown leather chinstrap and visor are excellent. They remain nice and supple, the leather is not dried out, and they are a beautiful brown color. The centerband is a textured olive green material. The insignia retains the majority of its gold gilt. The details are very nice on this eagle. The inside is also excellent. The sweatband is in place and is very clean, it shows hardly any use. This cap is named for Colonel Raimon F. Conlisk. There is a brown paper tag with his name. There is also a stamp on the sweatband with his name embossed in gold script. The maker’s mark is on the moisture shield. You can see the label for Hastings of San Francisco. The lining of the cap is a nice brown oil cloth, which you can see under the clear moisture shield. This cap would be a size 7 ¼. Historical records tell us that Conlisk was a San Francisco resident who served in the US Army during WWII. He reached the rank of colonel. This cap is excellent and might make a fun research project.
