USAF B-15D Flyers Jacket-This style first appeared in 1952 and was used throughout the 1960’s. It replaced the blue B-15 jacket which was found to be non-camouflaging for downed Korean war pilots, making them easy targets. This sage green color much better blended with the scenery and was a coveted item for pilots. This one has definitely seen some use. There is some wear, fading and discoloration. The jacket itself has no damage but the left sleeve pocket is ripped, the cuff and waist bands have a few holes, the zipper needs to be replaced and two of the female button snaps are missing, one inside and one on the exterior. The “Air Force” stenciling along with Air Force motto is faded but definitely visible. There is minor damage to the top of the closure seam where the zipper ends. The green fleece collar is fully intact. The interior is fully lined in green rayon that has minor wear and discoloration from use. The original tag is present. It reads “Jacket, Flying, Intermediate, Type 15d”. It is a size 40. A sought-after item!
