Very Intriguing Model 1916 German Helmet w/WWII US GI Art-This bring back helmet was personalized by a US WWII GI. The symbols for the 7th Army are seen (twice) along with Koblenz and Rhine River which the 7th Army was involved in as part of Operation Overtone. The green finish remains 50% intact. It is a helmet that was produced in Germany (as opposed to Austria). The original three pad leather liner and leather liner band are present. Each shows wear and discoloration but are original to the helmet. What isn’t original is the shoestring that replaced the original drawstring but this is still done a long time ago. There is a small piece of the chinstrap left. The side of the interior is stamped TJ 66 indicating production by C. Thiel & Sohne of Lübeck. A great piece!
