WWII German Allgemeine SS Kepi Private Purchase-This extremely rare cap has a body of black wool that is in excellent condition! It is very clean and damage free. There is a skirt of black wool around the cap. The visor is also black wool. There are two black enamel ventilation grommets on each side. The insignia consists of the early, small (M-29) style eagle which is produced in nickel silver and toned. It is firmly attached to the cap. The Totenkopf is produced in nickel silver as well with minor toning. The chinstrap is produced in black leather, remaining soft and supple, as well as firmly attached to the cap by a pair of black finished buttons. The sides of the interior are lined in orange brown cloth, while the upper portion of the interior is orange black oil cloth. There is a diamond shaped moisture shield which is fully intact. Underneath is the maker logo followed by "Stirndruckfreie, Qualitäts-Mütze, D.R.G.M. 1197944". There is a brown ersatz leather sweatband that is in great condition with minor discoloration only. The size is ink stamped onto the top panel, 59. A spectacularly rare piece in great condition. This one is missing from many collections!
