WWII German Army Cavalry Officer Private Purchase Visor Cap-This handsome cap is produced in a good quality, smooth field grey wool. It is in very good condition with minor wear, a few small nips and discoloration only. The cap looks to be a bit out of shape due to the fact that the owner removed the top two stiffening rings. There is yellow (cavalry) piping around the top panel and on the top and bottom of the dark green badge cloth center band. The insignia consists of an aluminum, silver eagle, bullion wreath and cockade with red felt bullseye. There is an officer bullion double chin cord (thicker style) in place with two small silver finished pebbled metal buttons. The black vulkanfibre visor is crazed but otherwise fine. It is finished in grey on the underside. The interior is fully lined in golden brown ribbed cloth that shows minor wear and discoloration from use. There is a diamond shaped moisture shield that is fully intact. The maker nomenclature reads Wilhelm Welhausen, Hannover Kassel. The sweatband is light grey leather and in fine condition. It is embossed with the maker information. The cap is a size 56. A very good example overall!
