WWII German Army Gebirgsjäger Cap-This is for other ranks personnel. It is a finely produced, private purchase example. It is made of a nice quality field grey wool. There is some minor wear and discoloration from use. This is definitely a mountain cap with its high peak and short bill. Speaking of the bill, the cardboard stiffener inside has multiple breaks in it. Each side of the cap has a single zinc ventilation grommet. The left side, as worn, has a zinc edelweiss insignia with gilt stamen (finish worn). The eagle and cockade are both machine woven. They appear to have been reapplied but are definitely 100% original pieces. The side flaps terminate at the front in a pair of field grey finished (finish worn) pebbled metal buttons. The interior is also very high quality. It is fully lined in tan HBT. There is wear and discoloration from use. There is a black ink stamp that indicates this was produced by Heiler of München. Handwritten onto the liner is 484 co….??? There is a full brown leather sweatband. It remains very soft but has many tears and some missing sections. A very nice cap overall!
