WWII German Kriegsmarine Mess Dress Jacket and Vest for Officer-This is a beautiful, high quality, private purchase mess dress jacket with white vest. It is a named example. This is for the rank of korvettenkapitan. It is produced in navy blue wool that is in excellent condition, with extremely minor wear and a few tiny nips only. It is double breasted, with a double row of four gilt finished navy anchor buttons. There is a chain tie with buttons as well. This has three gold tresse stripes at each cuff to indicate the rank of korvettenkapitan. There is also a gold bullion career device on the right sleeve, this is for defense ordnance. There is a beautiful gold bullion breast eagle. The shoulders are lightly padded. interior is fully lined in black rayon. There are pockets on each side of the interior. There is a tailor tag in the left pocket which is legible. It has the name of the tailor as well as the sailor as well as the date March 1939. The rank reads leutnant so this is clearly one that he wore for some time. This is a medium size. The vest is white heavy cotton with minor discoloration from use. It has four gilt finished naval anchor buttons. It has a strap with clasp in the rear. The interior is lined in a soft cotton. There are minor stains inside. Near excellent overall!
