WWII German Kriegsmarine Soldbuch-This is a very late war issue soldbuch to a Kriegsmarine Matrosen obergefreiter (marine artillery) who was assigned to a U-boat facility. His name was Heinz Kruschat (written on the front cover). This never had a picture inside the front cover. He was assigned to 3.U.A.A. Pillau, which is the “3 Unterseebootsausbildungsabteilung” in Pillau, now known as Baltiysk, Russia. This was a U-Boat training facility and was the site of the only sinking of a U-boat by land-based forces during WWII. The Red Army bombed the U-78 which was docked near the electricity supply pier in the Pillau port on April 16, 1945. Interestingly, the last entry in the book is April 15, 1945, a clothing exchange. This also includes a “release from captivity” form which is dated 22.11.47. Aside from normal wear the book and included certificate are in good condition!
