WWII German Luftwaffe "4 x 4" Standarte for Flight/Paratrooper Unit-The 4 x 4 unit standards are, in my opinion, the best looking Third Reich flag ever produced. This one is for a Luftwaffe flight or paratrooper unit with its yellow field. It is two sided and actually measures 50" square although it is referred to as a "4 x 4". This does not include the fancy silver metal fringe around all but the hoist end (basically fully intact) or the section at the hoist end that was wrapped around and nailed to the wooden pole. There are holes from where this flag was attached to a pole. The yellow rayon field is excellent, with minor discoloration only. Each side has four white columns which have black borders. The end of each has a black swastika which is trimmed in narrow silver tresse. These columns extend from a central white disc. One side of the standard has the most impressive silver bullion Luftwaffe eagle you will ever encounter. It is highly detailed and incredibly impressive! It is superimposed over a wreath of silver tresse. The opposite side is identical with the exception of the inclusion of an Iron Cross as opposed to the eagle. This is black rayon with silver tresse edges. The wreath is also different, being an oak leaf wreath with acorns. Words and pictures cannot describe how beautiful this piece truly is. A fantastic, top shelf display piece!
