WWII German Luftwaffe Flak Visor Cap for Other Ranks Personnel by Gustav Binner-This private purchase cap is produced in blue grey wool that has just minor wear, discoloration and tracking. The cap is a bit out of shape, more on that in a bit. The red piping is in fine condition. The ribbed black center band is in fine condition as well. The insignia is aluminum and retains a majority of its finish. The black patent leather chinstrap is faded but otherwise fine. Same for the black vulkanfibre visor, which has what appears to be a tape spot on it as well. It appears that is was loose as one point as there are tape stains underneath as well as some possible glue spots as well. The underside is green and cross hatched. The interior is fully lined in orange brown cloth. There is some fading and wear. The rhomboid shaped moisture shield is fully intact and has the maker nomenclature. It was produced by Gustav Binner Mützenfabrikof Breslau with a “delivery” year of 1938. The sweatband is orange brown leather and in fine condition. There are two unit assignments listed….one is crossed out (11./Flak. 14), the other is L. Flak-Abt 84. It appears that the cap was hung for an extended period of time. The front of the lining is opened up and there is a wire which is looped which I can only assume was to display the cap at some point. This has caused it to become a bit out of shape but this is easily solved by placing it on a mannequin head or of course using a cap form. A good example!
