WWII German Spanish “Blue Division” Medal-This medal was awarded for bravery and to recognize the service rendered by Spanish volunteers in the German Army who fought on the Russian Front between 1941 and October 1943. The original bronze finish is completely gone. The obverse bears representations of the shields of both the German and the Spanish government, with a swastika and laurel leaves beneath. A sword connects the shields and a German helmet is atop the shields. The reverse has the script “Division Espanola de voluntaries en Rusia”. The Spanish government had their own version of the award to recognize the volunteers. An original ribbon is included. A sound, representative example!
