Welcome to Part 2 of the 8-part series of videos on "The Need for the Stahlhelm". I have been astounded by the number of views that these videos have received in the week since we posted them. I decided to keep track and there have been more than 1,200 views in just seven days. I sincerely appreciate the kind feedback I've received and glad to see that this has been a source of entertainment and information.
Part 2 gets into the who, what, when, why and where my interest in German steel helmets began. It focuses on the early development of the steel helmet and the rationale behind it. I'll talk briefly about the prototype German steel helmet called the Gaede, as well as a Pickelhaube from my own personal collection.
