A Unique NSKK Model 1933 Dagger by RZM 7/66 (Carl Eickhorn)-The guards on this example are the nickel-plated type and good surfaces with just the slightest signs of age. Both guards have very deep accent grooves and nice, crisp edges. The tang nut is the standard nickel-plated steel type exhibiting age. The textbook Eickhorn grip is a mahogany looking example, being in fairly good shape throughout with no flaws and showing only modest usage. It fits the cross guard very nicely. The SA runes button is perfectly placed and has a good enamel surface. The aluminum grip eagle has good detail remaining to the head, breast and wing feathering, talons, wreath and mobile swastika. The scabbard shell is perfectly straight. This shell has a black factory paint which remains in wonderful condition. The scabbard mounts are the nickel-plated steel types. They are in perfect condition through to the lower ball. These mounts are retained by unturned dome head screws. There has been a center eyelet with a hanger ring added to this scabbard, for attachment of a chain. Though by no means “official” it’s period and this type of modification has been encountered in the past. The blade of this dagger remains in excellent condition exhibiting mild age throughout with remnants of dried oil. The reverse is etched with a RZM circle, above the Eichhorn code, "M 7/66" and production date “1941”. The blade shoulders perfectly fit the lower contour of the guards. A neat example for those interested in period variations.
