German WWII 98K Combat Bayonet by Clemens and Jung-This is a matched bayonet. The hilt and crossguard have a patina of rust to the steel. The mortise button is frozen in place. The wooden grips show wear and are held on with two rivets. The scabbard has lost all of its original finish, and has a nice anodized look to it. The steel has toned to a nice darker gray color. The scabbard has the serial number 9719 on the throat. The blade is excellent and retains its bluing. It is marked 38 on the spine. It also has the serial number 9719/F on the obverse, and the maker’s name Clemens and Jung on the reverse. This comes with a handsome brown leather frog. It is nicely dated 1936 on the reverse. The leather is still soft and pliable, and the retaining strap is in place. This bayonet is in very good condition.
