German WWII Army Dove Head Officer’s Sword by Alcoso-This is an early example. This sword measures 38 inches (96.52cm) in total, with a blade length of 32 inches (81.28cm). This is a dove head sword with natural bronze finish to the “P” guard and hilt. The languet has the left facing German eagle with outstretched wings. Both the “P” guard and crossguard are very ornate. These show excellent detail. The leather buffer is in place under the crossguard. The black celluloid grip has triple silver wire which is excellent and has great toning to the wire. The black painted scabbard retains the majority of its black finish. It is free of any major dents. It shows the usual scuffing from use and storage but overall looks very good. The blade is very good. You can see the Alcoso scales logo on the reverse. There is a remnant of a strap from a sword knot, that has been lost to time. Overall, this is a very sound example of an early Army officer sword by a popular maker.
