German WWII Chained Model 36 Marine NSKK Dagger by Eickhorn-This is an extremely rare dagger. This style of M-36 daggers were primarily issued to members of NSKK motorboat units. Wait until you see this beauty. The brown wooden handle is beautifully toned. The nickel fittings on both the pommel and the crossguard have a faint but distinctive gold plating remaining. The grip eagle is also gilted in gold and retains the majority of its finish. It is a tight fit to the handle. This is also true for the orange SA runic button. The enamel is very clear; the button has good color. The handle is a very tight fit to the blade. The black painted scabbard is very good. It shows finish loss above the center scabbard fitting. You can see this on both the obverse and the reverse. There are a few other small scratches to the scabbard, but this is not a distraction. The scabbard fittings are excellent. The top and center fitting is plated in a gold finish that remains intact. The lower fitting has lost its gold gilting but the silver plating looks very good. The ball at the tip of this fitting is very good not dented or flattened at all. The blade is excellent. The blade has the “Alles fur Deutschland” motto. The motto is nice and clear. You can see factory cross graining on this blade. The reverse of the blade is RZM marked M7/66 and dated 1940. The chain is gorgeous. It has the correct nine (9) links, that are decorated with raised NSKK eagles/insignia, sun wheel swastikas, and the rune. The clip functions as it should. The clip is not maker marked. The finish on the chain is excellent. This also has a leather “D”-ring attached to the chain. This is also excellent. Please take a moment to appreciate a dagger that we truly never get to see often enough. A real beauty, and a cool piece of history in very sound condition.
