German WWII Combat 98K Bayonet by Eickhorn-This is a very cool matched set. This bayonet is quite good looking. The steel pommel and fittings are a nice dark gray color. The mortise button works as it should. The cap has waffenamts in all the right places. The brown ribbed bakelite grip plates are very good and show just enough wear to know that this piece was carried for a time. The scabbard has lost all of its finish but has toned to a nice dark gray steel color that complements the fittings of the bayonet. The scabbard is marked with the serial number 2002. The blade is good. It does show some discoloration. It is nicely marked with the matching serial number 2002, and the maker code cof and the date 44. The code cof is reserved for the maker Eickhorn. This is a good-looking matching bayonet. The brown leather frog is still soft and supple, with an RBN’r on the reverse. The retaining strap has its original stud that works just fine. This is a desirable bayonet.
