German WWII Combat Bayonet for 98K Rifle w/Matching Numbers-This is a desirable example. It is totally matched throughout. The ribbed brown bakelite grip plates are held in place by two screws. The finish on hilt and scabbard is mostly missing, but it has a nice steel tone. The scabbard does show some rusting. This has a waffenamt on the pommel. The blade is in very good condition; it still shows some bluing. There is a slight bit of rust at the tip of the blade that we have not attempted to clean up. The reverse of the blade is marked cof 44 which is the code for the firm of Eickhorn. Both the scabbard and blade are matched with the serial number 8958. This beauty is complete with a black service quality leather frog. This is a very nice example.
