German WWII DRK Red Cross Hewer-This is a handsome example of a DRK Hewer that would be used by medics in the field. The matte nickel silver plated fittings are 97% intact. The finish is a beautiful matte silver tone. The obverse of the cross guard bears an excellent oval medallion topped by a DRK-style German national eagle. The black bakelite grip plates are perfect. One side is checkered, and the other side plain, just as they should be. Both sides of this grip are in very good condition. The scabbard paint is 96% intact, though there are a few slight scuffs and scratches, but this is not a distraction. There is one more moderate scratch across the face of the scabbard, about midway down. Please be sure to see photos. The matte silver fitting on the tip of the scabbard is in very good condition. The fitting at the top of the scabbard is also fine. The polished steel blade has a blunted tip, serrated lower edge, and has fullers running most of the length of each side. This blade is in choice condition. There are a few in and out marks, but this blade is super as you can still see the factory cross graining. It is interesting that it is marked Ges.Geschutz on the reverse of the blade, under the reverse languet. The thick brown buffer is still in place under the crossguard. This blade is a beauty!
