German WWII SS Sword for a Senior NCO-Sound example of a very desirable sword. The nickel silver fittings on the “D” guard are mostly intact and the finish is approx. 50% in place on the pommel cap. There is a nice SS proof etched just under the crossguard. The SS runes on the end of the pommel cap have very good detail. The black painted ribbed handle retains approx. 70% of its original black finish. The enameled scabbard paint is 90% intact, but please be aware that the scabbard does have liabilities. The inside runners and buffer appear to be lost or missing, which causes the sword to slip out of the scabbard if held upside down; this has no bearing on the display ability of the sword. The tone of the fittings on the scabbard matches the sword nicely though, so it is a good-looking piece. The throat of the scabbard also has an SS proof. The blade is unmarked, except for a hand etched number, B1524209 seen just under the crossguard. The blade is in very good condition overall. This sword measures 39 inches (99.06cm) when in the scabbard, with a 33-inch (83.82cm) blade. This is a nice example to add to your sword collection.
