Veteran Bring Back German WWII 2nd Model Officer’s Luftwaffe Dagger by Eickhorn-This was brought home by a US veteran, and we were lucky enough to purchase it from his grandson. We will supply the name of this soldier to the buyer. This is a good example with a yellow celluloid handle that retains its twisted silver bullion grip wire. This handle is in a sound condition and does show some damage. You can see some cracks and nicks to the yellow celluloid. The nickel silver of the pommel, eagle and crossguard have toned to a very nice color. Take a look at the gilting that remains on the pommel swastika! Very nice! There is some slight wear to both the eagle and swastika on the pommel but they retain strong details. This example has the vast majority of its gray airplane finish, with a look that is quite appealing. The leather buffer remains in place under the crossguard. The pebbled scabbard is in good condition as well. It has one significant dent and has a light coat of rust throughout. The blade has the desirable early Eickhorn squirrel logo (1935-1941). The blade shows the usual in and out marks but is in overall good condition. This example is complete with an appropriately tied silver bullion knot. The knot strap shows only light wear, and retains the majority of its silver bullion, with the acorn being in especially very good condition. Overall, this is an honest wartime example.
