German WWII Canteen-This is in “as found” condition. It is marked and dated 36. The brown wool cover shows extensive moth damage so please be sure to look at the photos. This example has the larger aluminum cup which is painted black. This could have been for use by Allgemeine SS. This canteen shows moderate wear and some denting. The cup is etched on the obverse with a name that appears to read A. Restle. The reverse of the cup is marked with NWB36. The dark brown pebbled leather straps are intact. The cup is marked and dated 43. The aluminum canteen is marked at the neck, with ESB 41 which indicates production by Eduard Sommerfeld of Berlin in 1941. An honest wartime example that is in “as found” condition.
