German WWII M31 Canteen-This is the iconic tear drop shaped steel body canteen covered in brown felt. The felt covering is in good condition. There is a field repair to the right side, you can see the rough stitching. There remains one hole that didn’t get stitched on this side as well. The snaps function, though the second snap down from the top is missing. The steel canteen body is painted in a beautiful red enamel. This body is not marked on the neck, though we did not remove the felt covering to see if this was marked elsewhere. The strap that holds the bakelite cap in place is marked CFL 43. This indicates that this was manufactured in 1943 by Carl Feldhaus Aluminium-und Metallwerke located in Lüdenscheid. The red enamel cup is painted in olive green paint that remains mostly intact. You can still see the red enamel inside the cup. The cup is also marked with the CFL 43 for the same maker. The leather straps are in place and are also very good. The snap clip retains the majority of its gray finish, and is marked for Ritter. This is in very good condition overall.
