German WWII Set of 1938 Wire Cutters for Pioneers-This is a very good example of full sized, large wire cutters that would be used by an engineer or soldier in the pioneer unit. This set measures 25 inches (63.5cm) long, with the steel cutting tool measuring 9 inches (22.86cm) long. The handles measure a full 16 inches (40.64cm) long. The handles and cutting tool show wear and a coat of rust. The finish is not visible, but they still function nicely and will clean up nicely. They are maker marked “vBw” for VBW Werkzeugfabrik GmbH. They are also nicely dated H1938 and show a prominent waffenamt. These are in good condition and have been very well used. They are very stiff but appear to work just fine.
