German WWII Volksmaske 37 Civil Defense Gas Mask-This civilian gas mask is known as the Deutsche Volksmaske 37 or the German people’s gasmask. This example was made around 1937. It features a large full rubber face mask with larger eye lenses. The lenses on this example are very darkly tinted from age. They are almost opaque to be honest. They have an interesting yellow color to them. The rubber is soft and supple and is a nice olive green color. There is a rubber strap that would attach to a snap, this strap would go around the back of the head. The silver cannister is in good condition, and well marked with a waffenamt. It does have some dirt on the bottom from storage, we have not attempted to clean this up.
